Speed up Linux Mint UI

I had video lags in Youtube and VLC when using Linux Mint 21.2 and generally was not happy with the responsiveness of the UI on my laptop. The following settings recommended by BrenTech much improved my overall experience, and especially Videos are now playing without lags.

Go to system settings

Effects: Turn off “Desktop and window effects” ⇒ Off
General: “Disable compositing for full-screen windows” ⇒ On
Window Tiling: “Enable Window Tiling” ⇒ Off
