Linux desktop font color

To change the desktop font color suited to your background:

  1. Create a file named gtk.css in your ~/.config/gtk-3.0 directory.
  2. Put the following text in that gtk.css file:
    .nemo-desktop.nemo-canvas-item {
    color: #FFFFFF;
    text-shadow: 1px 1px @desktop_item_text_shadow;
    }
  3. Alt+F2, type nemo -q and hit Enter
  4. Alt+F2, type nemo -n and hit Enter
